My name is Lewis McCoy. My formal education and training in Psychology was completed at Lewis and Clark College and I hold a Master of Arts degree, as well as a MBA. Major areas of course work include family therapy, psychological theory, mood and anxiety disorders, cognitive and behavioral therapy, health and aging, and child development. Some of the issues I deal with include treatment of depression, anxiety disorders, couples and relationship counseling, pre-marital counseling, domestic violence, men’s issues, and aging issues. I work with individuals, couples, families, and groups.
I have worked with clients in various settings for over eleven years. In addition to professional work, my Master’s practicum was administered and completed through Beaverton Christian Church Counseling Center. At the end of my formal education, I passed the National Certified Counselor Examination (NCC), certifying my professional preparation and training. I have been licensed in Oregon to provide professional counseling services.
My approach to counseling is to develop a close working relationship with each client, as we endeavor to identify goals and opportunities for growth. I am very motivated to assist my clients in achieving balance in their lives. I incorporate cognitive, behavioral, psychodynamic and family systems theories in my counseling. I also feel it necessary to include in counseling, when applicable, issues involving spirituality, vocation, physical health and fitness.
